The Crown C-5 is equipped with an industrial engine that was jointly developed with John Deer Power Systems. The engine integrates the performance features of the diesel engines used in John Deere’s rugged construction equipment and the knowledge gained through Crown’s five decades of experience in material handling. The C-5’s engine has a cast iron head and robust components that extend its lifespan to twice that of the engines found in existing IC trucks. This 4-cylinder, 2.4-liter engine and low-end torque improve performance during acceleration, incline-loaded travel and carrying or pushing heavy loads.

Brakes
Crown's large, full-circle brake pads last three times longer than those on traditional drum brakes, making them the longest lasting brake pads on the market.

Crown Power Brake has fewer moving parts and the self-adjusting feature virtually eliminates brake maintenance, reducing downtime and service costs and delivering the lowest total cost of ownership of any available brake.

Plus, an integrated push-button simplifies park brake activation and creates more space in the operator compartment.

Cooling
The Crown C-5 comes standard with a Dual Open Core radiator that provides separate cooling for the engine and transmission, and a more efficient fin design that prevents debris buildup.

But Crown takes cooling a step further with its exclusive On-Demand Cooling (ODC) System. ODC delivers precise cooling by running the fan only when it's needed. Its radiator clearing feature automatically blows out the radiator to dislodge dust and debris. The ODC option delivers cost savings that no other cooling system or forklift manufacturer can offer.

The C-5's center of gravity is lower and further forward than the center of gravity on competitor products. That means the C-5 can turn and maneuver faster without sacrificing forward stability.
