Bob
Rossiter and the Advance 3800 scrubber. |
Last
month, Bob Rossiter, one of Maybury Material Handlings
Service Technicians, spent four days at Advances Mechanical
Certification Training School in Minnetonka, Minnesota. Bob
was one of twenty people from around the country who attended
classes and hands-on training on Advance equipment, such as
sweepers, scrubbers, vacuums, aquavacs, and carpet cleaners.
On the first day of training, Bob was required to take a pre-test,
which included questions on the basics of Advance cleaning
equipment. Bob received thorough classroom training on electrical
components where he learned how to check and repair capacitors,
diodes, batteries, chargers, breakers, and switches in Advance
cleaning equipment. Bob also worked on the Advance equipment,
using troubleshooting techniques in order to diagnose and
repair problematic machinery.
Commenting on the Advance Training School, Bob Rossiter said,
I found both the classroom and hands-on training to
be extremely valuable. We covered a great deal of information
in the classroom sessions, which we then applied when we worked
on the equipment. On the last day of training, Bob took
the final exam, which covered electrical components, programming,
troubleshooting, and service test diagnostics. In order to
become certified as an Advance Mechanic, Bob had to receive
a passing combined score on his pre-test and post-test. (He
did!) Bob is now certified in all Advance equipment repairs.

Maybury
Softball Team Finishes Strong in ASA Championships |
 |
Back in August, Al Allesandrine, Maybury
Service Technician and Maybury Softball Team captain and
pitcher, headed for Colorado for the American Softball Associations
National Championships. After playing in the league for
17 years, this was the first year that Al and the Maybury-sponsored
team qualified for the National Championships. The Maybury
Softball Team, based
in Connecticut, was sent to Nationals by the State of Connecticut
and the U.S. Softball Association to compete against other
teams from around the country. After playing teams from
Wyoming, Michigan, New Mexico, and California, the Maybury
Team advanced to the playoffs, with a record of 3 wins and
2 losses in their bracket.
On
August 18th, the Maybury Team played their final game against
a team from Michigan. The Maybury Team fought a good fight,
attaining a final
score of 29 against Michigans 32 runs. This type of
high-scoring game is a reflection of the talent
exhibited among championship teams. In the end, the Maybury
Softball Team was ranked an impressive 18 out of 108 teams.
Al is looking forward to next season and plans on returning
to Nationals next year if the Maybury Team qualifies.
